Getting Familiar With The Various Components Of A Craps Table

Many people, who have walked through or even played some games in a casino, would have come across a craps table. While it is a familiar site to see players crowded around this table, even many of the players are unaware of what the table actually is and what its different components are? The following article aims at making people aware about the different components of the craps tables found in almost every good casino.

The most important as well as the most prevalent part of the craps table is obviously its bed which can comes in varying lengths of 8-foot, 10-foot, or 12-foot.  The table bed has a continuous Padded Rail that is bordered by the wooden Chip Rack. The Chip Rack is generally has the depth of two racks and has dividers placed after every 12-16 inch gap for individual players. The table bed is bordered on the outer side by small shelf known as the Drink Rail named aptly for players to place their drinks.

The inner side of the table bed has the Table layout made on felt foundation and contains all the numbers and boxes where the players place their chips. The inner walls of the table bed are lined with a rubber material which is known as Rail Rubber, and below it a 6-8 inch wide Pyramid rubber is placed on each inside end of the table bed. This design is put in place for the small pyramids and spikes used for bouncing the dice randomly. According to casino rules the players have to toss the dice in such a way that it necessarily hits the Pyramid Rubber making it impossible for anyone to control the result of rolling the dice.

A mirror is also placed on the inner side of the table bed and the dealers and the boxman have to stand on the opposite end of the mirrored side. This mirror is generally 8 inches wide and is as long as the length of the table. This is placed there to enable the dealer and the boxman to clearly view the palm side of the player’s hand, rolling the dice, thus making it possible to prevent any kind of cheating. There is also a Money Slot build into the table layout for placing the Money Drop Box. In addition, there is also a Dice Bowl which is cut on the table top for holding extra dice.
